Series consists of documents pertaining to insurance policies taken out by A. M. Smith and Co., including reports, claims, and copies of policies. The policies are for fire insurance, marine insurance, and cargo insurance. Cargo policies were required for every shipment of fish made by A. M. Smith and Co. Due to the transitory nature of these particular policies, the majority were discarded, although a few were maintained as samples.
